The eyes are the easiest part of your face to read, and communicate the most about your mood. Unfortunately, the effects of age or genetics can send the wrong signals, making you appear angry or tired even when you are not. Blepharoplasty, or surgery on the upper and lower eyelids, can help your eyes regain their old expressiveness.
If you have problems with the way your eyes look, Birmingham Cosmetic Surgery can help you find a solution. To set up an appointment with our Detroit cosmetic surgeon, give us a call at (248) 723-9370.
Upper Eyelid Lift Procedure

Blepharoplasty of the upper eyelids is an outpatient facial procedure, and takes about one hour to complete. To prepare for your blepharoplasty procedure, you should undergo an initial consultation with Dr. Rifai where you can ask him about any medications you are taking and whether you are a candidate for the procedure. If you smoke, you should quit a few weeks before you undergo surgery, and also avoid anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin.
During the procedure, you will be placed under anesthesia, and Dr. Rifai will make an incision in the space between your eyelid and eyebrow. This will allow him to remove any excess skin and fat that are causing your eyelids to sag. The procedure should tighten the muscles around your eyelid, making them more responsive. Depending on the amount of tissue being removed, your eyes may also look a bit larger.
After the surgery, you will be given some time to recover, and ought to have someone who can take you home. You should be able to return to work in two to three days.
