A breast lift with augmentation is a combination of the two surgical procedures. In this surgery, the natural tissues of the breasts are repositioned for a more youthful contour, and volume is added through the use of breast implants. These implants may be either saline or silicone and are available in a range of shapes and sizes to meet various goal results ranging from subtle and natural-looking to more glamorous in appearance. How is a Breast Lift with Implants Performed?

A breast lift with implants is a surgical procedure performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Incision patterns vary for each patient. Generally, they follow the three common patterns for a breast lift, which include:

• Periareolar (around the areola)
• Around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease (“lollipop lift”)
• Around the areola, vertically to the breast crease, and horizontally across the breast crease (“anchor lift”)

Through these incisions, excess tissue and skin can be removed as needed and the natural tissues are repositioned for a more youthful contour. In addition to repositioning the tissues, a pocket for the implant is created either behind the breast tissue or below the chest muscle, and a saline or silicone breast implant is placed. When all procedure steps are complete, incisions are closed using sutures.

Recovery After a Breast Lift with Augmentation

Immediately after your breast lift with augmentation, you will have bandages and a supportive surgical bra in place to encourage proper healing and limit swelling. Some redness, soreness, bruising, and swelling are all normal side effects as you heal. Dr. Rifai will give you specific instructions for managing discomfort, including the medications you should take. Most breast lift with augmentation patients require about a week of downtime before returning to non-strenuous work or other routines. Final results begin to be noticeable about three to six weeks after the procedure as swelling gradually dissipates and the breast implants “settle.” Dr. Rifai will monitor your healing progress through postoperative appointments.
