As you age you can notice sun damage and normal signs of aging including fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and more. At any age, patients may also notice common skin concerns like acne and scarring. VI Peels or Vitality Institute peels can aid in the healing of these common skin concerns by lifting, smoothing, and brightening damaged skin. At Birmingham Cosmetic Surgery, Detroit-area patients can experience the benefits of VI Peels performed by our highly skilled aesthetician.
What is a VI Peel?
A VI Peel is a minimally invasive facial treatment that uses medium-level chemicals to painlessly boost the appearance of the skin. Meet Dr. RifaiHow is a VI Peel Performed?
A VI Peel only takes around 30 minutes to complete and is typically pain-free. Your skin care specialist uses a blend of ingredients to break down your top layer of skin to reveal new radiant skin beneath the surface. Your aesthetician will first cleanse the skin removing any oil and dirt that has accumulated on the skin barrier. Then the VI Peel solution is applied in two separate layers. Your skin may tingle or numb after the initial layer is applied and will turn white once the second layer is applied. After four to six hours, you can wash off the solution and the skin will start to peel after three days. The frequency of VI Peels that you receive depends on your skin goals, skin state, and skin condition. It is important to wait four to six weeks before receiving another peel. This gives the skin the proper amount of time to heal.
Who is a Good Candidate for a VI Peel?
Most patients who have signs of sun damage or other common skin concerns are good candidates for VI Peels. The treatment can be a less invasive option for patients experiencing minimal signs of aging. Common concerns that can be treated using VI Peels include:
- Uneven coloring and hyperpigmentation
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne/Acne scars
- Overactive oil production
- Scars
- Enlarged pores
VI Peels target the skin barrier causing it to shed and the layer underneath to become the new outer layer. This removes damaged skin and reveals a new and more radiant layer. During a consultation, an aesthetician will evaluate your skin type and concerns to determine if you are a good candidate for a VI Peel.
VI Peels can be used in several areas, including the:
- Face
- Neck
- Chest
- Hands
What Our Patients Say
After a VI Peel
Around four to six hours after your treatment, you should wash the solution off the surface of your skin with a mild skin cleanser and water. The skin will peel around three days after your VI Peel. It is important to apply moisturizer until the peeling stops, avoid sunlight, and avoid applying skincare products until you have washed the peel off. Patients should follow all aftercare instructions for optimal healing.
