Illuminize Peel® from SkinMedica® is a superficial peel intended for mild skin imperfections. Working with your provider you can determine which SkinMedica® peel is right for you and your aesthetic desires.
What Is Illuminize Peel®?
Illuminize Peel® is a superficial peel offered amongst the peel varieties from SkinMedica®. This light peel is designed to treat mild skin concerns and restore brightness to the face. Illuminize Peel® will be administered by a skincare expert at Birmingham Cosmetic Surgery to ensure you receive the safest and most effective care possible.
Illuminize Peel® Procedure
During a chemical peel, your provider will gently apply a chemical solution, usually containing glycolic acid or salicylic acid, to the face using a brush, cotton ball, gauze, or sponge. As the Chemicals begin their work, your skin will begin to lighten, and you may feel a slight stinging while the solution is on your skin. The Illuminize Peel® will leave you with brighter, and more evenly toned skin due to the rapid skin cell turnover that causes the peeling.

What Our Patients Say
Illuminize Peel® Results
The immediate results of a light chemical peel are not unlike the feeling of a mild sunburn. You can expect some redness and mild scaling that can last from 3 to 7 days. You will need to apply lotions and creams as directed by your provider in order to ensure proper healing and moisturization.
In most cases, you will be able to wear makeup the day after treatment and should expect a very quick recovery. In the case of a light chemical peel, you may need 3 to 5 peels in order to achieve your desired look. You may work with Dr. Rifai at Birmingham Cosmetic Surgery to develop a treatment plan.
