Many of the Southfield-area residents who come to Dr. Rouchdi Rifai for liposuction are busy people with numerous time commitments and crowded schedules. We understand that between work and family you don’t have a lot of time for cosmetic procedures and the associated recovery period.
Fortunately, liposuction does not come with a truly extensive recovery process. We’ll give you more details as to what you can expect before you undergo your procedure, but we find that most patients are able to return to work within a week of their procedure.
In the first few days after liposuction, it is important to rest and recover. Make sure you’ve made arrangements to have someone help with your children and basic household errands.
There will be some swelling and bruising at the treatment site, but nothing too extensive. Most patients don’t report much pain, and Dr. Rifai will prescribe painkillers to treat any discomfort.
After a few days you should begin light, non-straining exercise, especially walking. This helps blood flow, which, in turn, aids healing.
You can return to your full range of activities, including your usual exercise regimen, about four to six weeks after your liposuction.
