Acne Facial

The Acne Facial at Birmingham Cosmetic Surgery is a 60-minute treatment designed to reduce acne scarring, clear skin, and prevent future breakouts from occurring. First, the skin is thoroughly cleansed and exfoliated to remove pore-clogging dirt, debris, and dead skin cells from the surface. Skincare products are then applied to clear the pores of excess sebum or the natural oils that can block pores when produced in excess. As needed, extractions can also be performed to remove pimples, pustules, or blackheads and create smooth, even, blemish-free skin. Finally, a soothing deep cleansing mask is applied to further nourish the skin.

Acne Plus Facial

The Acne Plus Facial combines the standard 60-minute Acne Facial service with microdermabrasion. In a microdermabrasion treatment, fine crystal particles are used to more effectively exfoliate and resurface the skin. At the same time, gentle suction is used to remove dirt, dead skin cells, and other impurities from the skin’s surface. This greatly improves the texture of the skin, making it a great option for patients with acne and acne scarring. Following microdermabrasion, skincare products are applied to protect and nourish the newly smooth and rejuvenated skin.

Who is a Good Candidate for Acne and Acne Plus Facials?

Most patients with acne and acne scars are good candidates for our signature Acne and Acne Plus Facials. During a consultation, Dr. Rifai or our skincare experts will evaluate your skin and overall health to recommend your best options. For patients with more significant acne scarring, the Acne Plus Facial will be recommended to better address the irregular skin tone and texture. For those with less extensive acne, the standard Acne Facial may be recommended.

After Acne and Acne Plus Facials

Patients should see immediately clearer, brighter, and more even skin after their Acne or Acne Plus Facials. They will notice reduced acne as well as a more luminous surface with reduced pigmentation. The skin should look and feel hydrated, but not excessively oily.

Patients who opt for Acne Plus Facials will be advised to wear SPF and avoid direct sun exposure, as microdermabrasion can cause some sensitivity. They may also notice some degree of redness or slight swelling. These side effects should subside within just a few hours of treatment.
