What are the Restrictions During Recovery from Breast Augmentation?

contact us

Breast augmentation requires surgery, which means that, inevitably, there will be a recovery period after the procedure. There are certain restrictions patients must follow after breast augmentation to ensure a speedy and healthy recovery. Anyone in the Detroit area considering breast augmentation should prepare for a full recovery period that will last several weeks. However, most patients are able to return to work and also resume normal activities that do not involve straining the chest area in less than a week.

The breast augmentation recovery process involves:

  • Taking medications (if necessary) to reduce swelling and to relieve discomfort.
  • Understanding that it might take several months before the implants will ultimately settle into their permanent position on your chest.
  • Avoiding activities that cause stress to your chest area – such as reaching high to take things off of shelves, lifting heavy objects, heavy-duty cleaning, etc.
  • Restricting your physical activities and level of exercise for at least two or three weeks.

If you are located in the Detroit area and would like to speak with Michigan board-certified cosmetic surgeon Dr. Rouchdi Rifai about the recovery process after a breast augmentation procedure, please contact Birmingham Cosmetic Surgery & today at (248) 723-9370 to schedule your consultation.
