Belotero is an appropriate treatment for most patients who are struggling with volume loss and/or facial lines and wrinkles. That said, there are some criteria we follow to determine if this is the right treatment for you.
You should be in good overall health, have realistic expectations, and not be pregnant or breastfeeding. You also need to be over the age of 18. Being a nonsmoker is also recommended.
What is the Belotero Injection Process Like?
The Belotero injection process is relatively straightforward. To start, we’ll clean the treatment area. From there, Dr. Rifai or a member of his team will prepare the injections. Due to Belotero including lidocaine, any other anesthetic is not usually necessary. That said, we do offer a numbing agent for those who need it or request it.
Dr. Rifai will then use a very fine needle to inject the Belotero formula into the treatment area. How many injections you need will greatly depend on the treatment area and the results you’re looking for. Treatment can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour.
After Belotero Injections
You will notice the effects of Belotero immediately after treatment as the hyaluronic acid takes effect. After your injections, you can return to most of your normal activities. That said, you will want to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat and sun exposure, NSAIDs, and alcohol for 24 hours after treatment.
You may also have mild irritation and swelling at the injection sites, but those side effects will dissipate within a day or two.
How long your results last will depend on the type of Belotero used, your metabolism, and your skin quality. Belotero can last anywhere from 6-18 months. At that stage, you will need repeated treatment to maintain the results.
