An eyelash tint and lift is a relatively straightforward aesthetic procedure, in fact, it can even be a rather relaxing process. To begin, you will discuss your desired look with your esthetician, such as how dark you would like your lashes and if you would like to dye your bottom lashes as well. Then your esthetician will begin the process of lifting your lashes.
Lift
After you have settled comfortably onto the bed, your esthetician will clean your lashes and eyelids to ensure no makeup, dirt, or oil will interfere with the procedure or the results. A silicone pad is placed on your upper eyelid and the lashes are glued to the rounded edge of the pad in the desired shape. Then three different lotions are applied to the lashes one right after the other. The first one is a lifting lotion that allows the lashes to mold into the shape of the silicone rod. This lotion is removed after about 10 minutes, then the setting lotion is applied to keep the lashes in their new shape. Once the setting lotion is removed, a moisturizing lotion is applied to keep the lashes healthy.
Tint
The final step of the procedure is tinting the lashes. The lashes will become slightly porous after a lift, allowing them to take the dye better. During a tint, your esthetician will protect your eyelids with another silicone pad before applying a thick coat of dye to your lashes. This will sit for 10-15 minutes before being removed. In total, an eyelash tint and lift takes around an hour.

You may notice some residual dye and residue on your lashes and in your waterline after an eyelash tint and lift. You can use a dry Q-tip to clean up the area around your eyes. It is important to avoid the following for at least 24 hours after your tint and lift in order to maintain and enjoy the full results:
- Wetting the lashes.
- Oil-based makeup.
- Touching or playing with the lashes.
- Swimming.
After this 24 hour period, your esthetician will recommend conditioning the lashes with a special serum or something as simple as vitamin E oil. An eyelash tint can last up to 5 weeks before fading back to your natural hair color. The lift, however, can last up to 8 weeks.
